Nursing Contentment

Nursing Contentment

As I lay in bed after a romantic dinner next to sleeping Danny, his soft hand in mine,  I nurse lemon ginger CBD seltzer in my belly and my aromatherapy diffuser slowly spreads the Love essential oil mix from Muji into the air of my small studio apartment. A sense of contentedness washes over my body like warm shower water after playing in the rain.

I am content with my partnership with Danny and the solace, growth, and joy it has provided me. I am content with our city strolls, intimate coffee shops and CBD dates, and our adventures around town while the rain pours in the background, contrasting starkly with the cheery mood we are often in when we spend time together.

I am content with the fact that I just accepted a job as an office assistant/receptionist, a stepping stone into a career path in the office world. With the opportunity I was given during my time at my previous position and with how that opportunity has helped pave the path for my future professional endeavors.

I am content with the chance to travel I have been given throughout my lifetime; the opportunity to dart down snowy mountain sides, sink my toes into warm, welcoming sand, and to explore quaint towns with the type of cafes and bookstores that make you never want to leave. With the fact that I have a family who I see often and share vibrant laughter with, and close friends who I spend tender moments with whether that be over toasty tea or dancing at Somaspace.

I am content with the flawed yet beautiful canvas that is my face that occasionally breaks out due to stress flooding through my system, with the time it will take to heal from what has come my way.  With the relationships I have lost, the time that has passed, and the bridges I have crossed. With the fact that what provides this contentment will be ever-evolving. I will bask in its impermanent glory until I allow the sheets to hug my porcelain skin one last time, my very last breath seeping from the seams of my lips like steam from the first chamomile tea I ever sipped.
